Parent Info

imageWhether your child is at the high school or college level, you will have a lot of questions.  We believe that parent involvement is an important factor in achieving program goals, and we encourage you to speak with us about your concerns as well as simply satisfying your curiosity about where your son or daughter is headed. At your request we will send you a copy of the program handbook, itineraries of planned excursions, pictures, and names and contact information of references.  Send us a note to ParentInfo@iusi.org or call us at 1-800-345-IUSI (4874).

High School programs
We take the safety and well being of your son or daughter with utmost seriousness.  Most of us –US, Mexican and Costa Rican staff -- are parents, and as fellow parents we pledge to take responsibility for your child.  There are carefully structured conduct rules designed to guide adolescents through the programs.  The student – staff ratio is VERY low (never more than eight students per resident program director) and our directors develop close working relationships with participants before the program begins.  Behind each resident director is a local administrative staff equally committed to the well being of participants.  Our travel arrangements to Mexico and Costa Rica are designed to insure safe arrival and return.

Each year we send between 30 and 50 high school students abroad; not a lot in comparison with large travel-study organizations, but far more guided and supported by our directors and local staff.
