IUSI's Professional Development Award

This year’s recipient of the IUSI SWCOLT Professional Development Award is Julie Rivera who teaches at Legacy High School in Las Vegas, NV,  where she  is developing the  language program for the brand new school.    In May 2000 she received her BA degree in Spanish and Communications from Weber State University.  In 2005 she received an ESL Endorsement also through Weber State UniversityJulie worked as a volunteer translator and teacher on a humanitarian trip to Honduras with the organization H.E.L.P. (Help Eliminate Poverty) in the aftermath of "Hurricane Mitch" in 2000.  She has also traveled to Spain.  She is a member of ACTFL, SWCOLT and TESOL.
